There are two versions about the origin of the name, according to Mayan pronunciation, the first version is “nest of snakes or pot” and the second version and less accepted is “place of the golden snake” that is because the island of Cancun has a form of “7” and the dawn appears as a golden serpent by the glare.
Playa del Carmen is a balneario resort city just south of Cancún on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, in the northeast of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The city is the seat of the Solidaridad municipality.
The Tulum archaeological site is relatively compact compared with many other Maya sites in the vicinity, and is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites. Its proximity to the modern tourism developments along the Mexican Caribbean coastline and its short distance from Cancun has made it the most popular Maya tourist site in the Yucatan.
Isla Mujeres (Spanish for Women Island) is one of the ten municipalities of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The municipality, located in the northeastern corner of the state is mostly on the mainland and has a municipal seat of the same name; Isla Mujeres.
The island is about 30 mi long and 9.9 mi wide, and is Mexico’s largest Atlantic island. It is Mexico’s third-largest island, following Tiburón Island and Isla Ángel de la Guarda. It lies some 12 mi from the mainland, and some 37 mi south of Cancún.
All golf courses in the destination ask for golf shirts with collars and tailored shorts for men and golf shirts with either sleeves or a collar and tailored shorts for women. Golf shoes are not mandatory, but shoes must be spikeless. Bathing suits and jeans are not permitted.
